Attrition has always been an ongoing issue among commercial online services, internet providers, ISP’s, portals, etc. As far as the Nielsen findings regarding Twitter, I would suggest extreme caution when data is reported in aggregate. Moreover, this is a fast growing area and any fallout can be washed out by dramatic growth. As a marketing researcher, I get unsettled when findings are posted lacking supportive evidence or deeper dive insight from other (primary and secondary) sources to either corroborate or negate the findings.
